In the Fall of 2018 Riva Restaurant revitalized the Italian roots having been know for in the small, quaint town of Scituate, MA for almost two decades. Riva decided to form an Executive Culinary Team to strengthen every aspect of the food coming out of the kitchen. Riva is pleased to welcome two very talented Chefs, Pong Sukapat and Jonathan Jones.

Born in Thailand, Pong comes from a very extensive culinary background. He began cooking alongside his Grandfather at the age of 7 where he gained his incredible passion for culinary arts. Pong pursued a degree in culinary arts and food marketing from Johnson & Wales in Providence, RI. While attending school he began cooking at the Country Club in Brookline where he was quickly promoted from a line cook to Chef de Cuisine. After graduating he worked as the Sous Chef at Chiara Bistro in Westwood and at the Mirbeau Inn & Spa in Plymouth, MA. Pong has also worked as a private Chef and consultant all over the country. He most recently spent 2 months consulting at a resort in Hawaii. Pong brings a very versatile skillset and with his passion for pastries and baking, Riva’s dessert menu consists of all handmade items.

Born & raised in Vermont and graduate of the New England Culinary Institute, Jon had a brief tenure as a sous chef at Riva back in 2012. During this time he brought the element of fresh pasta and incredibly savory sauces. He then went on to be the Executive Chef at Hola, in Marshfield, MA. Jon can be found reading cookbooks, fishing and seeking out wild grown vegetables such as the spring fiddleheads in Vermont.

Riva’s new menu is a perfect blend of incorporating Riva's Italian roots and both Chef’s individual flavor profiles and New American flair. Our Culinary Team sources as much of their food as locally as possible. All of our seafood is all sourced from Mullaney’s Seafood which is located in Scituate Harbor.
